Embracing the Community Spirit: Clubs in Red Bluff

By Eve Pearce

Red Bluff is a thriving community, with its locals sharing many interests. There are a wealth of fitness clubs and specialized sports clubs such as racquet and golf in the area for the sports enthusiasts among you, and these are popular year round. The Tehama Family Fitness Center attracts members from the town and surrounding areas and is an ideal way of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. For those interested in clubs offering other types of activities, the Red Bluff Lions has carved a name for itself in the community, and the Garden Club is particularly popular among residents, with flower shows bringing a splash of color to the town.

Wherever your interests lie, from planting roses to Zumba classes, Red Bluff has a club to spark your interest and ignite your spirit.

Wilcox Oaks Golf Club

This golf club is set in 120 acres of attractive woodland and is situated just north of Red Bluff on route I-5. Events at the club include Ladies Wganc Open Day, Seniors at Beale AFB and Twilight Couples. There are also charity day events organized by the club, which are popular among members. Special introductory offers take place such as a two-month trial membership, to allow newcomers the opportunity to take up golf and see if they like it, and this includes dependent children and spouse. Wilcox Oaks has a golf shop and restaurant facilities, so that after an enjoyable round in the fresh air you can sit down and relax for a quality meal in the Oaks Bar and Grill.

The Tehama Family Fitness Center

This fitness center offers facilities to suit everyone, from beginners to seasoned fitness fanatics and from individuals to families. The center has 30,000 square feet of room and features more than 85 classes to choose from. Their team of trainers will guide you and support you in whatever regime you select and you are sure to have fun in these activities. Spinning is offered here and has become one of the most popular classes, while Kettleball is also gaining a reputation as an effective fitness workout. Choose an energetic Zumba class to get the pulse racing, or Tai Chi for great balance and muscle workout. When you finish your class, take a dip in the pool, lie back on a tanning bed or visit the smoothie bar for a delicious refreshment.

Red Bluff Lions

The voluntary Lions Club has many fundraising activities, with a calendar of events taking place year round from pizza nights to candle selling and collecting canned food for the Salvation Army. Meetings take place on Thursdays each week at 6pm in the Veteran’s Memorial Hall in Oak Street. New members are always welcome and there is advice about the Lions online for those considering joining.

Red Bluff Garden Club

This club is very therapeutical and rewarding for those who enjoy gardening. Help to plant flowers in the community’s public gardens and attend meetings every month to catch up on what’s new in the gardening world. Each year a flower show is held to celebrate the club’s work, with this year’s having just taken place on May 3 and 4. In June there will be the annual Potluck Picnic, which always proves popular with club members.

The Red Bluff Garden Club meet on the last Tuesday of the month, with refreshments served at 12.30pm and the meeting beginning at 1pm in Union Hall on Baker Road.
